Hi,
We are now in Grenada, and have decent internet connection.
Some photos of our travels since we were here last.
We sailed from Trinidad to Grenada, then St Vincent and the Grenadines, St Lucia, Martinique, Dominica, and stopped going north in Le Saints, (just south of Guadeloupe), Ten we sailed back down south to Grenada.
We have now just booked flights to the USA for a few months, to have a break from all this HARD sailing.
When we get back in November we will once again sail north all the way up to The Bahamas, and spend 4 months there eating Lobster, and trying to catch a tan.

Le Marin, ZOOM in a little to see how many yachts are anchoooooooored here

We went for a dive in Le Saints, on a wreck of a Ferry. That is me in the doorway on the other side

Interesting Fish

Fish trap, the main reason for the lack of fish. Everywhere you go there are buoys marking traps.

In Dominica Island, we dived on Champagne Reef. (with bubbles and HOT water)

Then we took a tour of the island and picked some fruit. Paw paw, Coco Pod, Nutmeg and Grapefruit.

Uion Island

Hi Guys,
Sorry for the lack of postings, We are really out of internet range at the moment. This is sent via SSB Radio. How clever.
But slow, 750 Bytes per min.
At the moment we are recovering from a HARD day Kitesurfing. Alex is pretty good now, but James and I spend more time underwater, or getting duncked than moving forward. Almost there.
We are anchored just south of Union Island behind a headland called Frigate Island. Should be called Bloody Mosquito Island (HAHAAAAAAA!!!!!! Ouch, bugger! :(
We plan to sail down to Tyrrell bay for a few nights and then to Grenada.
There is some real crappy weather on the way for the weekend, and I would like to miss it. It looks like it may pass to the north. Here is hoping.
All the best. Chat soon

Dominica

Hi,

We are now on our way south. Stopped in Dominica for a few days. Le Saints was really Great. Felt like a holiday. Been doing lots of diving. I will try to post some pics soon, but Internet is tooooo slow today.

The decision after listening to wise people (and the fact that there has already been a hurricane) was to not risk the hurricane season and sail to the USA. I was looking forward to it, but perhaps we we can do it some other time.
We are heading down to Grenada, slowly, fishing and doing some kite surfing.

The braai was great, but a not enough meat or beer. At about R75 a can, It is almost impossible!
Enjoy SA prices. Make the most of it. At least you can still drown your sorrows. HA!
Tomorrow we go south a bit further.

Doug and Ursula have been sailing in style with us on their cat. Mmmmm. And faster than us! But it is really great to have company.

Le Saints

Wed 2 July
Hi, We have arrived in Le Saints. A small group of islands just to the south of Guadeloup.
Anchored at 15 52.0 N 61 35.2 W

Finally met up with our great friends Doug and Ursula on their new cat "Island Explorer".
Very happy and exciting times for us all. I was certain we would, but the speed (lack of) we move, we always seem to be left behind. Well what is cruising all about? It has only taken us 3 years to catch up. It is like Christmas for me!

Today we check in and then get about making a regular SA braai. (meat and Beer!) Perhaps some wine for the girls.
and some cheese "Grommit" Wea are in France after all!

Today we make a BIG decision, (we are in a quandary), as to go north to the USA, or go back down south to Grenada, and fly to the USA. The weather is of HUGE concern. The fact that there is a hurricane in Carolina ALREADY, is not very comforting. Perhaps..... common sense will prevail. (no need to experience a Hurricane) that is what Discovery channel is for.

Have a lovely day :)

The Route to the USA

Hi this is roughly the proposed route.
Trinidad, Grenada, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Dominica, St Martin, Culebra, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Bahamas, Florida
or we duck straight from Puerto Rico up to Chesapeak, and then work our way down again.
We must see how long it takes to get up the island chain first.
The other line through the USA is where the Mississippi runs. We have considered floating down here, but may get stuck in ICE. We should already be in Chicago if we want to do it this year

Hope it works out
Her are some pics from today

Grenada At Last

Hello!
Hi We are safely anchored in Prickly Bay Grenada.
The trip up here took only 13 hours so we arrived nice and early.
We had a 15Knot east wind and pretty flat seas. G was not even sick.
Since we arrived we have been making a dingy cover. The sun is eating my dingy. It is going sticky (yuck!)
I will post some pics of my fancy handy work.
